Dewayne used Social Work Test Prep to pass his LMSW a few years back. When it came time for the clinical exam, he came back. He picked up a practice exam and an ethics booster. Then he passed.

His words:

“I recently passed my LCSW exam. I must share this story. SWTP assisted me with passing my LMSW a few years ago. A week ago, I purchased a mock exam and an ethics booster from SWTP. The test itself and the rationales are the reason I passed. I have purchased other programs in the past with too much information that will certainly increase your anxiety, making you feel overwhelmed and less confident. I walked into that testing center feeling ready for a win. A lot of the clinical questions were similar to the SWTP updated practice exam. If you are ready to pass that LC, you need SWTP!”

Less material, more practice

Dewayne’s point about other programs is worth sitting with. More content isn’t the same as more preparation. Piling on information can leave you feeling like there’s always something else you should be studying, and that feeling can follow you right into the testing center.

What moved the needle for him was working through realistic questions and reading the rationales. Rationales are where much of the learning happens: why the right answer fits the scenario, and why the other options, which often sound reasonable, don’t.

Knowing where to focus

Not everyone has three months to study. Dewayne had a foundation from his LMSW prep and returned to SWTP as he prepared for the clinical exam.

A full-length practice exam gives you a chance to test your reasoning, identify weak spots, and get comfortable making decisions under time pressure. The rationales help you understand not just what you got wrong, but why.

And as Dewayne pointed out, many of the clinical questions on his actual exam were similar to those on SWTP’s updated practice exam.

Getting the reps in

Whether it’s the LMSW or the clinical exam, practice under realistic conditions can help build the confidence Dewayne described. The goal isn't to memorize every possible fact. It's to recognize what a question is asking, weigh the answer choices, and make a sound decision.

Dewayne walked into his exam feeling ready for a win. That's the kind of preparation we're here to help with.

Find a practice exam or booster that fits your timeline.

Congratulations, Dewayne!
