pass the lcsw exam There are a lot of ways to approach the social work exam. You can view it as an Everest or a gnat--an enormous obstacle to your forward motion in your social work career or a buzzing nuisance, distracting you from being a social worker and living your life. It doesn't really matter. What does matter is that you get to the exam prepared and ready to knock it out. If you're going to take the LCSW exam, why not pass it?! (Same goes for LMSW, LGSW, LICSW , LSW hopefuls.)

Okay, so how to go about passing the exam? There are resources aplenty on this site to help guide you to that desired result, the big capital letter PASS staring at you from the computer screen at the end of your exam sit. Some highlights to check out: the blog (including links to all kinds of quizzes and information-rich sites to help you get prepped--you're on it now!); the study tips page (with still more advice and links); and of course, the heart of the site, the practice exams.

The shortest route up your personal Everest or toward successfully swatting your personal gnat is practice. Getting used to the feel of sitting for question after question for four hours takes practice. Remembering how multiple-choice exams can lure you into a false sense of security about an answer and how to dodge that lure takes practice. Knowing how to apply your social work knowledge to specific questions about law, safety, ethics, and the like takes--guess what?--practice.

As irksome as the exam prepping process may be to you, remember that it will eventually be over. You'll have your license. Your social work career and your life will continue on. You'll look back, shake your head, and, hopefully, give a chuckle. "Glad I don't have to do that again!"

Wishing you luck in getting there as soon as possible!
