Free Social Work Test Prep?

Free Social Work Test Prep?

January 23, 2009

Yeah, I bought the full package--books, CDs, workshops, online practice tests. (There's also phone question questioning I've yet used.) Do I regret it? Is it possible to get fully prepped for the licensing exam without laying out that kind of cash?

Mindfulness v. Test Anxiety

Mindfulness v. Test Anxiety

January 21, 2009  |  less stress

Just studying can be anxiety making.  'Cause you don't know the stuff yet.  'Cause the vignettes are all so grim.  Just because. Test day?  The same, but more.

More Social Work Flash Cards

More Social Work Flash Cards

January 19, 2009  |  flash cards

More flash cards here. Some of these are actually pretty good. I've heard it suggested that, even if you buy fancy company cards (e.g., AATBS), you ought consider writing out each of the cards you don't know at first go-through.

Now I tell me. Using Google's keyword tool, it becomes clear that I may have misnamed this blog (assuming I've been putting it together to be read and used and not just to divert my own test--I mean, exam--anxiety).

Mnemonics for DSM

Mnemonics for DSM

January 16, 2009  |  materials

Memorizing the DSM in full is strictly unnecessary. Exam questions tend to be more about a small set of differentials (Schizophrenia ve. Schizoaffective D/O, PTSD v. Acute Stress). But, then again, why not get some details down?

Remain Calm

Remain Calm

January 12, 2009  |  materials  |  less stress

One thing repeated in all the prep materials I've come across so far is a piece of pat advice: Don't get too stressed out. "Anxiety" neared #1 in the Top Ten Reasons People Don't Pass The Test list at a recent AATBS workshop.
